This premiere screening will be followed by a Q+A featuring director Áine Stapleton in conversation with filmmaker and archivist Dean Kavanagh. When Life is Silent is a feature-length film that interprets the experiences of European modern dance pioneers Mary Wigman and Rudolf Laban, alongside other creative figures of their time. Set in Ticino, Switzerland, at the turn of the 20th century, it focuses on Monte Verità in Ascona, a utopian colony where these visionaries converged and explored new ways of living.
